    Question shorting the shaft minnkota

    has anybody cut down the shaft on a 101 minnkota fortrex handcontrol from 62 to 52 is this possible and how to do it?

    To answer part of your question, the Hand Controlled motors can have the shaft cut. You have to be careful to not only not cut the wires, but to not get composite dust down in the motor. To answer the other part, since the Fortrex doesn't come in a hand operated trolling motor, I doubt anyone has cut the shaft. To get a hand operated "Fortrex", you have to purchase the Riptide (saltwater) series which would be the Riptide SF.

    you can but the motor wont sit on the cradle properly once folded up.
