    sinking yard over drain field

I replaced the septic field 8 months ago. The soil over the lines settled 8 to 10 inches in the first 6 months. It is still sinking in spots but has slowed considerably. The lines are 6 feet deep. How long will this continue? I want to fill and replant.

With the amount of rain your area looked like it has had based soon what I have noticed from Nashville report it should have settled out. If you have not had the rain it may settle some more.

did you tamp the dirt back in over the line or just place it back?

most utility lines are tamped to density after every foot of soil placed until you reach the surface...even then, there may be some settling on top due to rain.

It was not packed as you suggested, just filled in and driven over with tractor.
