    Sevin Dusting your dog?

years ago i used to use Sevin dust 5% on my dogs for fleas and now the container does not say for pets, fleas are bad this year and nothing seems to work, is anyone still using sevin and does it work good, i see from some research that its about 50/50 being good or bad for your pets,

I used some stuff on my dog when I still had her that was pretty good and I got it from my vet. It's something similar to sevin?

Years ago when I had hunting hounds I used Sevin and it worked like a champ. They then reformulated the stuff and it quit working. This was many moons ago so I'm not sure about the present day stuff.

If I'm not mistaken there were two kinds of sevin dust. One you could put on dogs the others you couldn't.

I go to the co-op and buy permethrin liquid. Mix it via directions in a 1 gallon pump sprayer and let ole Fido have it.

And if you have fleas in the house, as is so common, use the same spray to spray carpets, furniture, bedding and drapes twice--a week apart. It's just about all that'll get rid of house fleas. (Even clean homes can get'em if you have dogs and cats in the house.)

Go to a local farm supply store and look for viper dust. It's a garden dust with a dog label.

Friggin fleas are horrendous this year!!!
Personally I would use anything on my dogs that was not approved for my dogs.

Before I used anything on my dog, I would check with my vet first. I seriously doubt I would ever put Sevin on a dog.

I buy liquid seven from lowes and mix it in a flower waterer. It allows you to pour the mixture all over them, instead of dusting the best you can. Be careful with permethrin, it is strong and goes straight into the blood stream.

Not sure if you give your dog heart worm pills or not but if you do. Get with your vet, is a fairly new heart worm pill out that also deals with fleas. Is what my hound is on and have not seen one flea sense I got her and started her on this pill. If I am not mistaken, is called Iverheart. Is a little more expensive then a regular heart worm pill but by the time you add in the cost of buying flea preventive any way. It equals out to about the same.

Huh? You now some military branches are treating the uniforms with permethrin including the U.S. Army? Permethrin is used to treat a LOT of things... like scabies, lice, etc on humans. Y'all know Nix (lice treatment for humans) is permethrin right?

Yes Mr baser I know what permethrin is and how it is use. Permethrin that you buy at farm supply stores is highly concentrated, so I told him to be careful. It only takes about 1/10 oz to treat 1200lb cow.

The pills are great ! But expensive.
I have the permethin concentrate. I spray them and the barn where they live.
Doesn't do as good as the pill ....... Dogs hate it also.
    Front line stopped working .........
