    Ipad on boat?

Anybody doing this? If so do you have a mount or a waterproof case?

Lifeproof makes a case and dock that will mount on a ram mount, it'll keep it dry but it's not cheap.

Buddy mounts an ipad on a ram mount by his console fish finder... without a waterproof case... but he's in a 21' boat. Still kind of silly, considering the chances of that thing coming into contact with water.

My droid phone has navionis maps installed. When I'm on a boat without a GPS I have my phone. Crazy that an iPad is a lot cheaper than a lowrance or hummingbird gps

I'm thinking about using it on my little boat because I don't have nothing on there. I don't use the boat much. Check out the link corykerber posted

Just think if they could hook up a transducer via bluetooth to the ipad. My guess is that within 5 years or so, you'll be able to use your iPad for a depth finder.

It's a great option vs buying another unit just for mapping.

You can now. Lowrance just came out with a box that allows you to read a graph off the Ipad or ay other wireless device.

I have my iPhone in a LifeProof case mounted to my dash with a ram mount. I use my navionics app. It also doubles as my music player with my Bluetooth stereo

I us the Navionics maps as well, the Ipad screen is much easier to see and I can use the full screen on my graph as a fishfinder.
