Anyone in the midwest finding morels yet?

Just wondering if anyone in the midwest has found any gray or yellow morels yet?

I haven't heard of any. I don't think it has been warm enough through the night yet for them to start growing.
Heard a radio interview on the local AM station here in Indianapolis a few weeks back, they had a guy on from morelmania.com who said the lows need to stay consistently in the high 40s/low 50s for morels to start coming up.

I've heard that the night time low has to be 70 or above for them to start. Who knows though..... I've always thought that if "they" knew what they were talking about, "they" could commercially produce them. I don't think anyone really knows. I've got my own theories from 50 years of hunting, but that's all.

Not here yet it's been way to cold and dry. We just got a lot of rain but the temps are still to low.

Nothing here yet in S. WI, soil temps too low, we've had lots of rain this month, so hopefully a good crop.

TY. It's my first spring looking for them. I got a guy to take me out Sunday and look at some areas around my house. He said it looked great, but after hours of searching we found only three little Morels. I decided to go back down there Tuesday and worked a little farther down the west side of a branch. After an hour of looking I crossed over to the east side and while climbing up the bank there sat a lone Morel almost at eye level in a clump of reedy grass....I was so excited I about pee'd my pants. As I knelt to pick it I realized they were all around me...was a great. I gave half to the land owner who let me wander all over his farm and cooked up the rest...yummy

A friend and myself found 4 plastic bags full last night. I can't figure out how to post the pics but if someone will post them for me I can email them. They were all found within about 50 foot area.

Not heard anyone finding them here yet, and I know quite a few people that hunt them early. Probably very soon though, had a bunch of rain, and today is going to be in the 70's.

We're heading to Mark Twain this weekend. Always beat the woods for 'shrooms the first day there. Hopefully we'll get lucky. I doubt if I'll be in the woods, knee is still recovering from surgery but 4 or 5 other guys will. If we find some on Saturday, they become breakfast on Sunday! MMMMM!
