So i walk into gander mountain

saturday and the line for the gun counter stretched clear across store,i just looked at heather and said "you'd think they're passin out free ____ ___ back there cause thats just crazy!" I wasn't there to buy a gun, just wanted to check out the fishing sale and couldn't believe the madness, they were actually making people take a number like the dmv/bmv.

Anyway, the gm here has a lot of lures 50% off so if you guys have one near you maybe you should stop in and see what they have on sale.I don't normally go there but for a sale like this i'll shop there. They had spro, bandit, norman and luck e strike crankbaits for $2.89-4.99 so i stocked up on the colors i like to throw. They also had a few plastics and war eagle spinnerbaits at 50% as well, good deal but they were goin fast so you better hurry.

The "take a number" thing is routine for many gun shops I go to- even before the latest rush.

I used to work at that Gander Mountain part time back in firearms in Greenwood Indiana and boy am I glad that I walked away when I did.
I have been in there a few times since I quit, and every single time the firearms area is packed beyond belief.

One of the guys I used to work with said they got in around $20k worth of .223/5.56 ammo on the 17th and sold it ALL that day. Firearms/hunting is up $150,000 OVER what they budgeted for the month of December, and they are well on there way to another month in that range.

But, yea they are having some damn good sales in the fishing department.

Our gander has been taking numbers for about 5 or 6 years. They started doing it about the time Iowa passed their shall issue law.

Trust me I am very glad I no longer work there... Only advantage of working there was the discount in the store and discount on firearms through a vendor program. I was able to get a Springfield EMP 9mm for about $450 less than retail.Otherwise between dealing with the public and management it wasn't worth what I was getting paid. Majority of time management was worse than the public

I was employed for about 5 years., so I was there for the first rush when Obama got elected the first time. This time seems to be much much worse than 4 years ago. My buddy and I also went to the Outdoorsman on Saturday and it was packed when we there also. I picked up a few lures myself and they actually had some 10XDs there, which is the first time I have seen those in person and those things are HUGE!!!

My friend works as a gunsmith at a well known local gun shop. I went in there last week and he said normally he has 200 - 300 hand guns to sell. He had 16. The place is really busy to say the least.

Whittaker's in Owensboro KY got in two semi-loads of ARs and ammo Sunday night. Everything was sold on Monday.

Look up Whittaker's on Facebook. I liked their page, just to see their daily posts on the volumes they are selling. It's crazy!
