Where to say for the Guntersville Classic?

Ok I know its almost a year and a half away, but me and dad are already planning on going providing he's still around with us. Neither of us have ever been, and its a bucket list item for both of us especially him. Might be his last chance to see one. So anyways I know Birmingham is the host city, but if you were going would stay in Birmingham or Somewhere closer to the lake? Really not terribly worried about the commute backand forth from the lake to expo everyday just wondering what you all think..

    Thanks

dont know about where to stay since i live in arkansas but if you can get to the launching ramp early enough to get some pictures of the pros as i did when the classic was in arkansas in 1984 & 85 those memories will be around for ever.It will be something you and your will remember for ever.

You are looking at a little over an hour drive from the launch to the Civic Center. Are you bringing your boat? I believe the launch is going to be in Spring Creek. The Hampton Inn is very close to this launch and is very nice and safe and is also very close to Hwy 79 which would take you to Birmingham. If I were going to stay in Birmingham without a boat, I would stay at the Sheraton which is at the Civic Center and has a cross over to the Exhibition Hall where the outdoor show will be. Nice if it is raining or very cold.

Pretty sure I'd stay in Guntersville if that was the host launch city. I like the old Covenant cove now back to being called Mac's Landing.

The BJCC is an hour and a half minimum from the ramp. You could stay somewhere in Birmingham and be close to the expo everyday. You could stay somewhere halfway in between or you could stay in Guntersville. I live in Birmingham about 10 minutes from the BJCC and I'm an 1:45 from Gville and plan on going to the expo. I would stay in Guntersville so you can wake up later in the mornings, buts that's just me. There are plenty of nice hotels in the Spring Creek area.
