Taurus TCP .380 VS Ruger LCP .380

Looking at the two pocket pistols. Both .380's Taurus TCP has gotten some good reviews and the polymer runs about $199. The Ruger LCP gets good marks too and is around $320. Leaning towards the Taurus, the TCP is also available in SS for ~$280.00. Opinions?

I can't comment on the LCP but I do own the Taurus. Nice little pocket gun that I carry in a Desantis Nemesis pocket holster. Seems to shoot everything I put through it. It did need a good cleaning when I first bought it.

I got the LCP and it's great for its intended purposes. Can't speak of the Taurus , never had my hands on one of those. Like to carry my Ruger like this:

I also have the S&W Bodygaurd. I want a lot of trigger pull on a pocket pistol. A 3lb trigger may not end well for your crotch. All these are fine guns. All are for close range quick response. Take your pick, just different names.

The LCP is worth the extra 100 bucks. I'm sure some folks are happy with their Taurus firearms, but I'm not a fan. I've witnessed first hand numerous Taurus failures on the firing line, and have been told of the headache sending them back to Taurus for repairs.

I have the Lcp and love it. No flaws after countless rounds. I am partial, but out of the two i would go with RUGER. With that being said i have thought several times about buying the tcp just for the heck of it and trying it out. I know the Taurus 380 used to have major problems, but i think they have been taken care of.

I may also toss a Diamondback DB380 into the mix.

Do some research on anything produced by Diamondback. Several places that previously sold them no longer carry their products, and won't even special order them for customers. I would NOT stake my life on a Diamondback pistol... way too many reports of failed triggers, cracked frames and split barrels.

Thanks! Was told that some former execs from Glock started that company up and were supposed to be good pieces. The Ruger LCP may get the nod after all even though the price tag on the Taurus is very appealing and it does have good reviews on the C model. "A" model not so much.

I have the Ruger LCP 380 and really like it. It is a good little "get the flock off of me gun". They now have a LCP 9mm that I want to upgrade to in the future. Do NOT get a holster like the one pictured above, way too much trigger exposed.

Are you saying the Taurus has a better trigger pull? I haven't shot one so I can't comment, but I have no issues with my Ruger. By all means, I'm not saying Ruger is my weapon of choice or duty pistol. Given the choice of the two weapons listed by Fred, the Ruger would be my choice.
