    Buying boat from canada

I am trying to buy the BOSS'S boat he lives in Canada and I live in Oklahoma what are the procedures that must take place to do so. I will need a title for my bank and there will probly be a duty tax I guess. What paperwork is needed for me to register it in Oklahoma? Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Best bet would be talk to the bank and your DMV to find out exactly what will be needed on your end.

Charles, check with U.S. Customs to see what you need to do and I'll do the same. I'm not sure if you have to handle the paperwork to get it across the border or if I do.

We used to purchase "grey market" vehicles from Canada all the time.
The easiest thing is go to OK's motor vehicle registration website and see what those requirements are first.
Most lenders just need verification of existence, a lot of States don't Title watercraft, so paper Titles don't exist.

    Good Luck Buddy

See you on Beaver in Oct.

My Bro just moved to Broken Arrow, we may have to get together on Grand before then.

The young man that purchased my boat was from Canada. I provided him with a title (based on the trailer) and a bill of sale... he took care of the rest. I received a call from the border authorities checking to verify the sale of the boat... 30 seconds and he was good to go.

I bought a car in Canada, and had it shipped to Alabama. The duty was $5 per thousand value to cross the border into the US. The key was that the car was originally manufactured in the US. No big tax since it was being returned to the Country of origin. Don't know if the same applies to boats. I dealt with a trucking company, Mackie Truck Lines. They handled everything and were very knowledgeable of the process.

Thanks Bryan. I'm going to call U.S. Customs tomorrow and find out if I can make all the arrangements or if Charles has to do it from his end. I'm aware of what's required to bring a boat into Canada but not the other way around.

Can't wait to see that Green G.
If you can't get it worked out I know where a white/purple G is.

Is the boss getting a new boat? Hope things work out and you get ahold of his boat. If I could offer any insight into customs I would.
