Saw this on another forum. Even the Skeeter's owners toruny is not safe from cheaters. I guess some people are just DA's and think they won't get caught.

Wood County Game Wardens Derek Spitzer and Kurt Kelley along with Rains County Game Warden Dewayne Noble, Van Zandt County Game Warden Steve Stapleton and Captain David Modgling worked the Skeeter Owners Bass Tournament on Lake Fork June 9-10

Five of the more than 1,650 anglers in the contest “won” felony criminal charges.
During the tournament, the five subjects were caught with illegal fish being brought to the weigh-in.
Two of the largemouth bass had their tails altered or “cut” to make them under the slot of 16 inches. Another bass, an 8-pounder, was caught on a crappie, a game fish illegal to use as bait.
All subjects wrote out and signed voluntary statements concerning their actions after being questioned by the wardens.
Five charges were filed with the Wood County DA’s office for fraud in a freshwater tournament, a third degree felony.

yessir the game wardens were at the weigh in tank. They were checking fish to see if they fell into the 16-24" slot. Even fish NOT altered but that went over the 16" were pulled, the angler ticketed, AND since they'd broken a game law were DQ'd for the day.

I wonder about the bass caught on the crappie....was it a situation where a guy was reeling a crappie in and the 8lb bass hit it and got hooked or was somebody using a crappie as bait like a minnow?

How did they catch the crappie caught fish? Somebody see them fishing with crappie? Who the hell fishes with crappie for bait?

They polygraph each hourly winner. I'm going to wager a guess that the crappie caught fish was an hour winner and it came out in the poly

Not in Texas. Years ago a big bass tourney on Lake Wright Patman was the incentive for the law. There were three fish weighed in over 8lbs, a size that at that time was unheard of for Wright Patman. One of the "winners" was dq'd for a inconclusive polygraph. The other two was determined the fish had been brought in from other lakes and DQ'd. A game warden for the area lakes lobbied for and was able to get passed a law making it a felony to cheat in a bass tournament in Texas. The game warden went on to become a lawyer and eventually a job at the Texas AG's office. The eventual winner of the tournament, (so the "story" goes) was found shot in the back of the head with a shotgun ( I believe the new story said multiple times) at a small pond close to his residence in Dallas. This was deemed a suicide. Now you know, the rest of the story.

You find cheaters in every sport and we all should realize that. If you see something suspicious report it to the tourney director. When $ are involved cheaters will evolve. My 2 cents.

Bass Cat, Ranger, Nitro, Stratos, Champion, etc. owners wouldn't stoop that low.

Guys who catch 8lb bass.......the wild card will be if it is a legal sized crappie
